Developed by the corporations of the DVD+RW
Alliance (dvdrw.com), the DVD+R format has advanced editing and operational
capabilities. The DVD+RW Alliance includes Philips, Sony, HP, Verbatim, and
so forth.
Modern DVD players and DVD drives are hybrids, capable of player and/or recording
both DVD-R and DVD+R media. With a DVD+R capable player, you can take advantage
of the DVD+R double layer technology, in which you can read 8.5 GB on a single
side DVD+R DL disc. Burning a DVD+R DL disc, however, requires a DVD+R DL
media compatible burner.
